A couple of weeks back the washing machine wasn't filling with cold water. So I ordered a water mixing valve to replace the valve that was stuck in the hot water only cycle. Then we ran the hose into the house to fill the washer while waiting on the part. Then the water stopped running while we were filling the washer. So I crawled under the house, and found a leak in the feed line from the pump. I turned off the power to the pump to keep our crawlspace from becoming a giant mud puddle. I was a bit befuddled as to why the water stopped running though since the hole in the feed line was just a tiny little pin hole. So I called my favorite plumber that had replaced my well pump back at Thanksgiving last year. He came the next day, patched the leak, and replaced the pressure switch that had literally fallen apart. A few days latter the water mixing valve arrived, and I replaced the part on the washer.
So the water is on, and washer is working again. Yay!!!
All seemed right in the world until...
I was sitting at my computer last night after a long hard day of running and gunning up at the farm in preparation for a
class. As I'm sitting there in my stupor contemplating a long hot shower, and some sleep T walks into the room and says, "Your not going to believe this! The dryer isn't heating up." I let out a string of obscenities followed by "I guess the heating coil or the thermostat has gone bad". She replied, "Didn't you replace the heating coil a while back?". She was right.
So I took the dryer apart this morning. After much testing and cussing that all of the parts were good, I deduced that the switch in the timer was bad. Of course it had to be one of the most expensive parts in the whole dryer. The part is ordered, and it should arrive tomorrow while I'm at work. Maybe I'll get the dryer fixed before the weekend so I can have some valuable time to replace the cutoff valve in the toilet.
